Hi Gents,
I'm looking for scale drawings for the South African Casspir and Buffel APCs (or at least side, front, back and top elevations)... So far with no success... Can anyone help me?
Many thanks
Mark
PS And for a total long-shot (as if the above aren't obscure enough) the Ystervark AA vehicle?

Mark,
If you get any nibbles, let me know, please? I've been looking for such drawings for a while (off and on).

Gents,
Drop BARV a PM. The SA community have sent him several dosen, if not hundred, pictures of various SA ARV's and AFV's. Although I doubt he has line drawings of them, he may have pics of the vehicles you mention.
If you don't come right with him, drop me a PM and I'll forward the email address of a local club member that may be able to help you/

Hi Mark,
BARV, who some times goes by the name of Steve Cruikshanks, is our resident ARV nut He mostly does scratchbuilding. One of his most recent projects is the SA Olifant Mk1A ARV.

Wow! Nice scrathbuild, BARV!
Kits of South African AFVs would be great --- here is yet another neglected cool armor subject!
And if it is not too much trouble --- if they exist, I would love a copy of any plans or drawings of the Buffel... This is an incredibly cool-looking vehicle I would love to build (ideally from a kit)!!!! The SA vehicles look like they came right out of "The Road Warrior"!
I remember years ago, there was a company called Fireforce Productions that kitted a number of SA vehicles... Didn't have the money for any of their 35th scale SA AFVs back then --- did anyone ever buy one and were they any good...?
Thanks, guys!
Much Aloha,
Johnny B.

Heya, Tamiya!!!!!!!
How 'bout a Buffel in 35th scale...?!!!! :-)
Ahhh, I had ta try --- guess I'm still drunk with glee over their Char B release...
Oh, well, back to reality...
Much Aloha,
JB
PS Maybe if we can convince Dragon that the Buffel was a WWII German vehicle, we might have a chance at seeing a kit of one!! :-)

South African Ratels in two versions available here http://www.rjproducts.com/Catalogs/Fine_Cast_Models/Fine_Cast_Models.html
I used to go and inspect the works in the East Rand where they made the G7 and also repair many of the vehicles. I might still have some contacts in SA in the military - I will see what I can do
Can you say "Hoesê" ek sê?

Mark, over at SA Bushwar there are enough photos to constitute a walk-around of the Buffel (as well as Ratel and a few others).
Remember that the early (prototype) Plofadder was fitted to Buffels

Remember that the Ystervark’s base vehicle is the Bulldog MPV and not the Buffel.
How’s this for a SF vehicle, seats 9 comfortably (well almost) not too sure about the MG3s fitted on top though:

Ahhh the Buffel...I almost bought one of these (1:1 scale) a few years back as they were selling them off as excess. The price was silly it was so low, but I could not afford the cost to get it to the U.S. I would love to at least build one of these for my shelves. If and when those of you who have drawings/plans find them, I would greatly appreciate a copy of them as well. I used to have several hundred pics of one, but my PC dumped/crashed/burned long ago and they went with it Hopefully you guys find your drawings and or plans. Good hunting. "Q"

Mark, some Ystervark photos, for those not acquainted with the vehicle. Before anyone laughs (as I did the first time I saw one in Angola), these actually nailed a Mig or two.
PS: Ystervark literally means ‘Iron Pig’, the actual translation is Porcupine.
PPS: Steve have a look at this page for a few more photos of one of your SA toys.

Cheers guys! An overwhelming response! It'll take me a couple of days to absorb all this in between shifts, but I'll be back...
btw I agree - the Ystervark is a beast!

I just spoke with a guy about a week ago who told me Bax Models has a resin casspir kit in 1:35. I have long been planning to scratchbuild one and was gradually getting my drawings and ref materials lined up. Hope I can get my hands on that kit.
Bax has a resin buffel in 1:72 which I have on my shelf - don' t know if it's still available.
cheers
Tom
P.S. - I see Ace Models has just released a 1:72 kit of the AML-90. Does anybody know how it compares to the Eland 90? Would it be possible to convert the kit?

Chris Baxter has had the 1/35 Casspir out for a few months now. I stand under correction but I'm sure the Buffel is still available.
The AML-90 is easily converted to a Eland-90. Chris's brother Murray converted the AML to an Eland virtually overnight a few months ago...

Does Bax Models have a website? If so, can anyone give me the URL?
When I did a google search I got a million hits on the female runway model Kylie Bax. Not a bad hit mind you, just not quite what I wanted this time around.

I don't believe Bax Models has a website. I think you have to contact Chris Bax directly. Unfortunately I don't have his contact information.
Any suggestions Rudi?
