Citizen Soldiers by Stephen Ambrose, p. 257 - Sergeant Egger recalled “the best foxhole I ever stayed in. The Germans had dug it about seven-by-five-by ten feet deep with a covering of six-inch logs, dirt and snow….It had a little gasoline stove, a candle, and a bottle gas lamp, so we really had most of the comforts of home.”
I had the idea several years ago and the campaign gave me a dead line to get it done. I procrastinated some and made some mistakes, so didn't get all the details I originally planned, but I tried some new techniques and learned a lot. All but the head was from my spares box or scratch built, which was satisfying in a way.
