Hi folks,
I just came into possesion of Italeri kit #240 Chevy Gun Tractor. I would like to build it up soon but need to know what it would have towed?
I am assuming that the 25lber would have been the main thing. Was there anything else besides that? Like maybe a 6lber or something else?.
Any clues about possible kits would be a great help. I know Tamiya has the 25lber kit and Italeri used to have a 6lber but I think it was the US version?
Any help would be great!
Jeff

I think the Italeri 6 lber came in a couple of different toolings making it a sort of UK, US and finally USSR type.

25 pdrs and occasionally, 17 pdrs. Very little else.

Without leaving myself open to the inevitable photo someone will dig out of some archive, FATs were never used to tow 6 pdrs. That was a job for Lloyd, Windsor and, sometimes, Universal Carriers.Like maybe a 6lber or something else?.

Tamiya's 25 pdr is the only game in town for that piece. Italeri's 6 pdr was and is only a Brit Mk II although I have seen it boxed with US soldiers and advertised as a 57mm M1. The M1 is longer than the Mk II and the wheels are different.
As for 17 pdrs, there is the Airfix 1/32 kit and, I think, an Accurate Armour 1/35 resin kit and I think that's it.
If you had the Tamiya Ford FAT it would have gone well with the Airfix kit as it is closer to 1/32 than 1/35.
That's about it, I'm afraid.

Thanks Robin and Paul.
Paul I was actually hoping you would reply into to this thread. You confirmed pretty much what I already knew but its good to have a second opinion.
Looks like the Tamiya 25lber is my best bet.
