Guys, the instructions say recoat after 3 hours, or 48 hours to avoid wrinkling. My question is this, I sprayed the primer on yesterday, its still got some slight tack to it, but it won't leave finger prints and is pretty much sandable, so, do I have to wait another day to spray it with the olive drab or does this have something to do with spraying another coat of primer? Its been since 1990 I've even sprayed a vehicle or used Model Masters paint, so, any tips would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi Easyoff..

This is from the Model Master's Technical Reference book.. (best book for MM and testors info)....

Model Master Enamals.. (I am asumming your using the enamal for the primer?)

excert from page 83..

"Dry Time: depends on thickness and conditions, shown are approximates;

Flats .. 30 mins to 1 hour.
Gloss and Semi-gloss 1 hour to touch.. full cure is 48-72 hours..

Note: Paint cures from the outside in!"

end quote.

I mostly use flats and never have had a "wrinking" problem with putting down my coats. but I tend to give about a half day to a day between coats.. and I almost always give 2 days to make sure the paint is "cured" before putting on clear coats.. but that is my own personal preference..

Hey Delbert, thank you so much. Yesterday I sprayed the Olive #1911 from a can over the primer that had been sprayed on the day before. The primer still had a tack, which I'm not used to working with house paints etc. Yes, it was enamel.

I purchased the Olive previously in a bottle and was going to apply it with an air brush, a tool that I don't have much exp. with. When I saw how level the primer layed from the can I just had to try the Olive (base color) from a can as well. (Laugh) I put on nearly 80 miles finding the product. The sun was shinning, I had the top down on the car, nice day. The Olive layed on perfectly now its time for the details.
