Started the grassing phase the other evening, I think this really starts to give the dio some character.

I have added the stone wall and gate as a dry run

Gonna plant a nice little tree here with lots of long grassy tufts around the trunk.

I have placed a white metal figure here, just to show scale. it will not take any part in the final Dio.

Comments welcome as usual
Thanks
Shultz

Hi Shultz!

Very nice diobase you have here... How did you made so realistic looking grass? That stonewall with woodengate is also very nice looking..

Keep em coming!

Cheers,

Cortez

Thanks for the comments Cortez, the grass is made from a material I found at the local market. It's really used as a Hanging basket lining, I think it's a Hemp type fibre. It comes that colour, so no painting is needed. All I did was stick it down with PVA white glue, once dry, pluck it up to stand it straight and cut to the height you need.
The wall is scratch built, as is the gate and post.

Great looking grass! Could you be a little bit more specific on what the material is that you used for it.

Hi Aaron
The grass material is a simple hanging basket liner from a local market.

Indeed it looks like hemp. In the States it comes in a form of a rope. If you unravel it and cut it into small pieces, it looks just like what you got. Good job!

thanks Marty, it comes in rope format in the uk too, the one I used was made flat to line a hanging basket. Even if I do say so myself, I'm pleased with the result.

Thanx
:-)
