Measure, cut, glue, clamp, wait, repeat, .........
This is the start of the [ King Kong ship inspired, Venture ] tramp steamer for my, " One That Got Through " , dio.
The stern with the sloped hull to the water line was a thinker.
I used Birch veneer [ sp. ] cut at an angle, with everything braced with balsa. Then glued the hull sides to the stern piece.
Using a constant base " spreader " length of balsa, then increasing the upper deck width gradually, I hope to give the hull that slightly rounded effect, and the mid - ship area that nice fat beam look.
The ends of the hull sides foward, [ in pics. ] will then drop down to the cargo hatch level and then back up for the bow area, maybe another 2/3rds of the existing build so far, roughly making the 1/35th scale length of this ship around 175'.
Tedious, tedious, I can't wait to get to the top decks and such, with all the appropriate rust and sea scrunge.
I'm planning on using two Verlinden 5 cm pieces, one fore and one aft, also adding a few Plus model dual Maxims, or are they quads ?
Alot of things to add and more and more ideas crop up every day, some from you guys posting ideas in my first posts about this build. Thanks
Cheyenne

Awesome start Cheyenne. Any reason why you chose wood over plastic? Easier to work with?
Keep up the great work and the post.

Thanks guys, John, thats actually a file I won in an arcade on the boardwalk, pretty neat huh ?

Ian, thanks and yes the ship will be unloading a couple of small Pz II's and other assorted stuff.
This ship will be moored on the outside pier of the dio and the side next to the base of the dio will be done with a few cutaways of the inside of the ship, - hold, Marconi room, bridge, saloon, galley, etc., maybe ?
The other outside edge of the dio, along the other pier, will have a partially sunken/ awash freighter. Between the two and the piers will be a VIIC [ Accurate Armor offering ] and an S-Boat [ ADV - Azimut ].

Rick, yeah man what you said, I really want to do a number on this.

David the plastic would have melted [ I tried that ] with the stronger glues needed to make [ and hold ] the hull shapes I need to make and I figured it would be easier to adhere weld lines [ plastic Evergreen ], and other plastic additives, glued to the existing hull.
I'll show ya what I mean as I build her up.

Thanks again - Cheyenne

Glenn -

As I said before, an incredible project with what is looking like equally incredible results. I can only bow to your determination and initiative for tackling such an involved project. If you got my PM, the offers still hold and I've got a Pz II to donate if you'd rather. Please keep us posted as this as it will be a joy to watch as it progresses.
