I saw a really funky camo scheme and I think I traced it to British tanks in Berlin in the 1980's. Does anyone know what this scheme is called and where I could find more info on it. It looks like a bunch of squares that are gray, white and brown? Thanks.

Maybe somebody going to the MAFVA Finals at Duxford might remember to get you some pictures as they have one there in that pattern, I'll try and remember.

Hey Jeff, I 'm currently working on the Chieftain Mk 10c conversion set for the Tamiya kit and planned to do the same urban camo scheme that you are asking about. I found a book by Tankograd publishing- it's title is " British Infantry Brigade Berlin" and has numerous color pictures of Chieftains and other vehicles of the Brigade with the urban camo scheme. Apparently (according to this reference anyway) the commander of the D squadron 4/7 Dragoon Guards challenged conventional camoflage practices of the British army at the time for urban areas and developed the new scheme in 1982. I hope to post in progress pictures of my build with a review to follow later-also try the Osprey book on the chieftain as well by the way. Good luck! P.S. the conversion set I'm using is from Accurate Armor.

Jim, That was great. So far my research says that they were painted all the same to confuse anyone trying to get an accurate number. That pattern should help a lot.

Very interesting scheme. It looks like a lot of masking is going to be required here. I think I'll stick to the field pattern of the late 70's when I do mine
