I am a new armor modeler. What is the best way to achieve that winter white-wash over the base colors. Is it to hand brush them on with a weak white color wash,or to lightly mist it on with an airbrush ?
The kits I have in mind are Tamiya's 1/48 Stug III H and T-34
Thanks

First of all Welcome to Armorama!
I haven't tried that method but it sounds easy.
You may also search through armor /afv posts some methods or take a look here and I'm sure you'll find what you'er looking for.

I have mixed baking soda and water to make a thick paint. Slop it on like they did in the field, It wont look white until it dries. Good results.

I've done the pastel 'whitewash' and it does work well. I didn't do it as good as I'd hoped it would come out but it was only my first time doing it and I did want it to come out looking a bit rough and field applied and it did. It's easy and easy cleanup, worth giving a shot.

I've also used a baking soda, water, and white paint (to adhere to the vehicle) and just simply slopped it on with a brush and I was very pleased with the results.
