Looking over a few pictures of a recent model expo and came across this,
Is this a Tamiya T-34/76 converted into a crusader? Who ever built this model did a good job on the paint scheme and accessories.

Don't know why the photo didn't come out, but this model was a T-34/76 in Crusader desert scheme with camo nets and all. It was a real interesting model, but I realized it was the Tamiya T-34 because I saw similar features to the one I just built.

Can you re-post the picture? From the discription I think I've seen this and THINK I know what the story is, only I'm not going to make a fool of myself going on about it only to find that it's something completly different

Is it this "Crusader IV" you'r talking abou?t: http://www.track-link.net/gallery/3247 . Build by a friend of mine here in Malmo, Sweden (in 2002 I think). Hint: It competed in the 'April Fool's Day' class at IPMS Stockholm Open this year...

Zapper,
That's the one I thought I'd seen, brilliant paint job, but how much of the story is true? but there again the Poles on their way back to Europe did tie two ships together to make it through the med. So pinching a couple of T34's on the way is possible.
cheers

Quote from the 'discouss my model'-thread at the track-link site (there is a link below the photos) from a statement made by my friend: 'This model is PURE fantasy! The story about the Polish POW is true although the story about th three T34s is pure fiction.'

Erik,
The bear, as far as I remember was called Voytek (?) and was picked up by a Polish Artilliery unit as a cub and was a mascot, however, he (she?) decided to help out and used to carry the ammunition from the limber to the gun. as a result was incorporated into a cap badge. After the war it ended up in a zoo in Scotland (Dundee or Perth) where (apparently) the keepers had to learn Polish to talk to it! I am supposed to have been taken to see it by my uncle when I was a kid, (who DID charge Panzers on a horse in 1939)although I doubt this as according to the book, see later, he, the bear, died before I was born.
The book is called 'Soldier Bear' I don't know who wrote it or the ISBN number although I do remember reading it a good few years ago.
I realise that's a bit long but could be a good vignett?
