one or two years ago I purchased Italieri's 1/35 Jagdpanther and wasn't too pleased with it so I stopped building about half-way. I recently decided to go back to it and discovered that I'm missing the gun mantlet and several other gun components. Question is, is it possible to get a replacement, or even a nice brass barrel that comes with mantlet and all? If I go for the second option I'd want to get a PE set for the kit, any advice?

I'm not sure offhand which Jagdpanther the Italeri one is, early or late, but CMK Hotbarrels has resin mantlets with their aluminum barrels. I got an early for the DML kit.
I got mine in the states through VLS www.modelmecca.com
their membership "masters group" is a great deal.

PE = photo etch parts.
Small parts etched into thin brass parts which are used to detail plastic kits, usually where the parts can't be duplicated in plastic realistically.

Like Mike (sounds like the beginning of a commercial ), I'm not sure which type the Italeri kit depicts, but I would also suggest the CMK mantlet and barrel (available through tons of places). As for PE, I would suggest looking into the Aber sets for the Jagdpanther.

Ralph,
The Italeri Jagdpanther is a late version. Two part gun barrel and welded mantlet. This can be made without zimmeritt. As Adam says, the gun and mantlet is available as aftermarket items.
Happy modeling.......
