Would yo dilute paint when applying it by brush (not airbrush), for example
primer
base coat
over base coat (highlights, shades)

Dee in a lot of cases when brush painting you would need to thin the paint to get a nice surface finish. I know a lot of my paints are quite thick when I open the tin/bottle.
I would not thin them for dry brushing but I would if I wanted the preshade color to show through and of course they are thinned a lot when applying washes.
