I am doing a what-if version of the Tamiya Pershing I am adding a metal 152mm barrel from a KV 2 to it I probably will turn the hull mg into a flame thrower and may add the Academy M9 dozer blade to it if it's not a whole lot of trouble
Would that be classified as an assult tank or a CEV? I know CEV's are assigned to engineer units But this version would be used in either a W.W.2 1946 scenario or if the invasion of Japan would have taken place
I am just curious as to what type of unit ID markings I should put on For example a vehicle in a comabt engineer unit or a tank company HQ unit
Thanks for all help

Sounds like a killer idea for a Heavy Assault Tank to me...
I'd put it in a tank company, if you're going for a Japan Invasion-type scenario.

Well, there weren't any dedicated Combat Engineer vehicles in the 1940's so don't worry about organizational angle (the Sherman fitted with a dozer and 105 howitzer combination used in Korea got people thinking along the lines of a dedicated Engineer tank--a prototype was built on an M47, but they ended up using the M60A1 as a basis for the M728).
Before you get lost in fantasy, have you considered doing one of the actual Pershing assault tanks? A whole slew of different prototypes were built in 1945, in batches of 25 or so. There was the Super Pershing (not the prototype that went to Europe but a refined production version with the long gun but without the big spring mountings on the roof). There was also a Pershing Jumbo, with the standard gun but enormous armor castings for the glacis and the mantlet. If the invasion of Japan had gone ahead, they would probably have entered production.
Lots of heavy tank prototypes appeared in the early postwar period too, with stretched Pershing hulls mounting huge turrets with 120mm or 155mm guns.

Gerald
I know of the "Super Pershing" which the 3rd AD had two of them I have seen some pics of the other variants that you've mentioned
Right now they are beyond my scrathbuilding skills This version I am doing is basically for fun I do know that I'd like to build a Pershing with a 105mm main gun Not the howitzer version used in Korea

Best reference for all the Pershing developmental versions is the Hunnicutt Pershing book (either edition--I have the reprint). There wasn't a Super Pershing with engineer attachments--it was simply a cleaned up version of the prototype that went to Europe. They were able to balance the long gun tube internally so the big spring housings on the turret roof of the pilot model were eliminated. 25 were built for evaluation purposes in the summer of 1945. The assault version was a standard Pershing with thicker armor castings, and a batch of 25 were also produced.
The experimental CEV prototype I mentioned was built in the mid 1950's on an M47 Patton. Featured a crane on the turret, a 165mm howitzer main armament and a dozer. It was successful, but by then the M47 was being phased out, so the principles were applied to an M60A1 to produce the M728. See Hunnicutt's Patton book for details.
