Just joined. Looks like a great site. I was wondering if anyone out there can answer a question for me. Was the Dragon Wagon tank transporter ever used to transport the M26 Pershing during the Korean War. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! #:-) #:-)

Yes the Dragon Wagon did transport the Pershing. In '45 the m15 trailer was strenghted and then redesignated the m15a1 to handle the heavier Pershings. funny thing is the M26 tractor also got a face lift and was redesigned with soft skin cab in a vain attempt to lower the weight of the cab, tire wear was a issue with the M26 tractor. So if you load a Pershing, you might want to convert the cab, though the armoured cab is fine seeing it was in use till the end of WW2. By Korea all the armoured cabs had been refit with the soft skin cabs. search the porum you might find a couple of pics for the M15a1 trailer. there was one in vietnam here awhile ago. good hunting stug

Micheal Kalbfleish ([email protected]) offers a resin conversion forthe soft skinned cab, but you will have to do the trailer yourself. Also I have a number of pics of the DW if you need any in particular. Give me your email and I will send a couple of the Pershing/trailercombo pics to you. [email protected]

On page 63 of Armor in Korea from Squadron/Signal there are pictures of a softskin cab and the WWII armored cab Dragon Wagons. Both were used by the 57th Ordnance Recovery Company. The load on the armored M-25 is an M-26 Pershing. So your idea would be right on.
