Hello all. Just got directed to this site via a forum post in Fine Scale Modeler. Although I am not new to modeling, have been doing aircraft for some time, I am now working on some US armor. What I am looking for specifically is some pointers on where to find color schemes for tanks and artillery.

That depends on what vehicles and which era. WW2 US armor was normally OD green through Korean and started to become a darker semi-gloss OD green into Vietnam. The 70s and 80s Army gave us some decent camouflage schemes like 7th Army's wild colors and the MERDC 4-color schemes. This culminated with the standardized NATO 3-color scheme used today. Desert Shield/Storm added the overall sand scheme which is one of the more common camouflage schemes today.

Hey Mike
Welcome to the big A.
As to where to find colour schemes for tanks and artillery it really depends on what you are looking for.
You'll find some on the web just by googling the vehicle name and trawling through the images. If you decide to specialize then it's worth buying books dedicated to your chosen subject. If you go that route then read a review of the books here on Armorama or elsewhere before you buy it or ask the rest of us if the book is a good investment.
Another way is to find a photo you like and ask questions about the colour schemes here, someone is bound to know and folks here like to help.

Hi Mike
To complete all the info you will find on Armorama about US camo schemes (often first-hand info thanks to our resident experts), you can also have a look to Panzerbaer website, provided you can read German (but it's not really compulsory ) :
