Hi,

I have 3 questions as follows:

Do people airbrush"future" or use a brush before applying decals?

Do people put another coat of "future" on after the decals before proceeding further?

Do people spray the matt varnish & if so does one dilute it with thinner or turps ?

BTW, Santa was kind to me this Christmas and I would like some feedback on these questions before progressing further with my presents.

Kind regards

Well the answer to your questions is YES! You can airbrush Future, but remember to clean it up after you are dond or your airbrush won't work next time (Found that out the hard way) I don't put a second coat of Future over the decals as the flat coat will fix them . You should thin with the recomended thinner for the flat coat you are using.
Hope this helps?

In my country (Argentina) does´t exist the brand Future, there are another ones similar to that product, but I prefer to use a clear varnish instead. My favourites is Humbrol Clear Varnish.
Always before appliying the decals you have to airbrush a coat of clear varnish to avoid the silvering effect. I use a mix of 50% varnish and 50% thinner (Humbrol).
When the varnish is well cured (one day) you apply the decals and then you have to wait one or two hours to let them dry. After that you apply the matt varnish coat the same way that the clear one.

Does future need to be thinned before it is airbrushed?
and if so, by how much?

I think the floor wax (Future is that kind of product ?) doesn´t need to be thinned.

Remember, Future is designed to dry with a glossy finish when applied with a sponge mop dorectly from the bottle. When I use it, it goes on with a wide brush and dries as it was engineered to, smooth and glossy. Thinning and airbrusing is a classic gase of guilding the lily.

Thank you ! Iwill try to apply the floor wax with a brush like you do.

Has anyone ever used Tamiya's Flat base with Future to create a flat coat? If successful, what kind of ratios and how many coats?
