I discovered one more excellent use for Future. While airbrushing rough resin with a mixture of Future and SNJ metal powder I noticed it does an excellent job of covering and leveling a rough resin surface - that cannot be sanded because of crowded detail.
I always knew that future leveled well, but adding the SNJ powder made me realize the new trick. I bet it is because the future is usually clear while we airbrush it - thus we still see small imperfections through the paint, even though it actually made the surface smoother.
I can see endless possibilities airbrushing Future/SNJ on areas that still don't look good even after extensive filling and sanding.
Recap: Future + SNJ = Good surface leveler that can be seen
Hope this helps, Calahan

That sounds good, but for those of us uninitiated in SNJ, what is ? where to get it? And how do yo mix/add it with the Future (or Klear as it's called on our side of the pond)?
And a big question, won't the metal powder damage the nozzle or needle of the AB??
Thanks
Henk

Henk,
I obtained the SNJ metal powder from an airbrush metalizing kit. Look on the SNJ website to learn all about it > www.snjmodelproducts.com
Whith SNJ you spray on this very thin metallic paint, then buff in this metal powder for added effect. It is really quite nice.
As far as the SNJ/Future ratio: I mix approx. 8 parts Future to 2 parts SNJ powder - if that. Just enough to tint the Future. Remember building up light coats is better with all paint.
It does not damage any airbrush component.
Note: Tinting Future with SNJ is not the only way. I bet any water-based paint will do. This SNJ tip happend by accident.

I really like the flexiblity of SnJ powder products, I'm currently looking for a replacement. As you will notice when and if you vist the website "As of December 31, 2005 SnJ Model Products has closed."
