I was wondering if anyone had experiance with either of these sets. I wanted to put one together using the newer Academy kit to make it a M31 in ETO.
I am guessing the Azimut dset is alittle more complete (w/ p/e etc...)
As always, Tanks
Chris
I now see that DES makes one aswell as Aires (?)

Chris,
I had both kits and ended up using the Calibre35 kit with some parts from the Azimut kit. Both were ok sets. I found that the Calibre35 kit was not up to the standards of some of their other kits and I had to scratchbuild some replacement parts such as the large toolboxes on the back hull. Keep in mind that both kits were designed to be used with the Tamiya M3 so I don't know if there will be fit issues trying to use either kit with the Acadamy M3. The Calibre35 kit did supply conversion pieces to correct the rear plate/exhausts of the Tamiya kit. Hope this helps.

Having not built either of them but having both, I'd say get the Cal35 one. They took pains to have lots of finesse (like cotter pins on their bolts). The Azimut kit is rather simplistic and has one of its tool boxes too short.

Where are folks getting the Cal35 conversion these days ?
I'd like to get one to try on the Academy Lee -- used a bit too much of the one I have on my Tamiya Lee, not sure I can rip it apart ...
Thanks,
John

Thanks guys!
I think I'll go after the Cal 35 set. The Aires set CAN"t be all that great b/c its priced at 17.00 USD!
I think the only problem with using these kits on the Academy Lee is the different slope on the rear deck, which means sanding down the bottoms of the storage boxes to accept the different angle.
Thanks Again guys!
John, Either R & J or GreatModels should be able to get these. GMWS doesn't have the M31 set listed (its 35008), but they carry the rest of the line.

Chris,
Why I asked, GMW cancelled my order ...
I'll look at R&J -- my other sources didn't pan out either.

I just picked a Calibre 35 kit on eBay several weeks ago.
Just do a search for M31 and you should still get a hit for one selling as a "But It Now" for just under $80 USD.
Good luck,
Gary
