I am almost finished with the Tamiya 1/48 SU-122 Great little kit BTW Does anyone know much about the turret number markings on them? I was wondering if I could use a two digit number For example 31 I was curoius to see if that was realistic
Also, were they ever used without any turret numbers? Thanks for all help in advance

Doing a quick survey of the few references I have on the SU-122 (perhaps a dozen photos all together) it appears that no (visible) markings at all are most common. I could find only three with numbers on the superstructure and in these cases they were three digits (and of the these, two were painted with whitewash winter camouflage).
Of course it's tough to come to any real conclusions based on a LACK of information and there has to be more photos out there than what I found.

Hi Chad
I did a search throught google/yahoo etc and although there are plenty of pics of models of SU 122 's with markings but I could not see any photos of the real thing with numbered markings , but as the saying goes , never say never :-)
