Vinnie, just looking at this build in (Models On Display). Its a great build and the tarp came out awesome. One question, why would you put a tarp on this vehicle. You can't use hatches or periscopes,is this used for camo.

another thing i noticed is most things are dirty or rusted but what about the tow cable,it looks so new.

Hmmm.....I was going to let Brian answer these, but hey ho! Firstly, the vehicles were supplied with Tarps, and the tie-downs to use them in case of bad weather. They weren't waterproof. Neither was the tow rope attached to the vehicle, if the old one was damaged, then a new one would have been used.

The Tarps have to be the single most realistic tarps Ive seen at this scale. The colours and weathering of them are top notch. Excellent.
The running gear and tracks are another highpoint as well as the paint difference of the missing side-guard tracks. Very nice model Brian and congrats on winning the MOM.
Im sure there will be more than myself interested in how you achieved the tarps finish. A long-winded explanation would be nice ;-)

Er........Frank, there has been a main top feature by Brian on the front page for the last 3 weeks about how to make these tarps..... :-)

Everything about this is spot on and its the nice little touches like the patch on the tarp and the mop resting on the rear that really makes it stand out.

Thanks Mike. Yes the tie downs were used for camo, but I wanted to do it different. The idea is the integrity of the roof has suffered damage and is being covered till it gets repaired.




Apart from the tracks and exhausts there is no other rust on the tank. I have been moving away from the whole chipped-and-rusted look after reseaching the daily maintenance discipline of German tankers. The reason for the shiny cables is that wih the amount of breakdowns these vehicles suffered, I figured they would get a lot of regular use and breakages/replacement. I will concede they should have more dirt so I will add that
