Hi, newbie back again..lol.. This is my second topic post. WooHoo!!...lol
Anyway, I was just wondering if there are people like me that love to build one specific type of armour vehicle. I have just started building armour models, but I have 3 panthers finished or in various stages and have 3 more to build, (along with Tigers and so on). I also collect U.S./German armour diecast and have a few Panthers there too. So, basically I am a Panther fanatic.
I was just wondering if I am a weirdo or if other people do this. #:-)

I'm a big cross over guy. It really depends on the kit. I do AFV's of all types and era. I do aircraft, I do figures, I do diorama.
My focus is AFV's of WWII vintage. But if a kit catches my eye I'm all about the challenge.

Guess I have to say I'm a WWII freak here...Anything from that period (armor) is what I'm interested in ...I'm very much like you ...I have at least 12 different kits based on the panther ..., at least 9 different Tigers....8 or 9 different shermans ....So don't worry you're normal just like the rest of us nuts!! hehe!! #:-) Now we won't talk about books now will we ...Thinking of all the books just on tigers ....Tigers in Combat I & II ...Tigers on the Eastern and Western Fronts ...Tiger Sturmtiger....Achtung Panzer #6....Squadron ,MB motorbooks TigerI...Panzertracts......Ospreys TigerI...Schiffer publications Tiger and its Variants....and that is what I can think of off the top of my head...About the same for a panther...So I'm feeling fine here!!!#:-) #:-)

Well for myself, I have been away from the hobby for a good 10 years.....just getting back into it now....and am finishing up my first, a Dragon BTR-80 painted in the NATO 3 color scheme, with Hungarian markings, as Hungary is now apart of NATO....it would seem realistic that some of their equipment would be repainted to NATO standards.
I am mostly a modern AFV person....particualy Soviet equipment, but also build modern US, UK, German and of course Canadian stuff. As well I do modern military aircraft, dabble in WWII AC especially the bombers, as well dabble in modern warships, and got my start on cars way back when.....dabble a little in dioramas....but have a long way to go judging by what I have seen on this site!!!!

I tend to build a little of everything, but mainly modern US and other modern nation's equipment. WW2 armor also with US and then German, UK, Russian armor tossed in. I even have an old Tamiya Italian tank. I also have the odd WW1 tank here and there.

I build mostly German Armors, and recently had gone into some Kreigsmarine and Luftwaffe stuff, but that's all I do.
I hate Shermans or any of its Variants!!!!!! #:-) Now, Shermanholics don't kil me.

I think I build just about anything. I've never made a diorama, nor have I ever accomplished figure painting (hence the lack of dioramas), but other than that just about anything is fair game. I've built some warships, a small galleon, aircraft of all shapes and sizes, armor (almost exclusively WW2), a car or two, I even once had the star trek enterprise model.
Usually though I build armor. The first model I ever built by myself w/o the help of my dad or uncle (a master modeler I assure you) was Tamiya's M5A1, this was back when I was 7 or 8. I'm working on this same tank right now! (well not the same kit of course!). I built armor for a few years and then switched over to aircraft, girls and rock&roll durring my teen years
And then I stopped building all together for some time. I've recently returned to the hobby and back to armor. Right now I have this fixation with light tanks, especially British and American. The Stuart is the prettiest thing on wheels IMHO, I've even named my car "Honey" (used to be Layla). I'm also a big fan of WW2 British and Polish armor.... not much of a Tiger or Panther fan though; too big for my taste.
Sorry for the life story

If the Canadians used it in WWII....I build it....armour or softskin alike.....this means a lot of Sherman variants....just traded some German stuff off tonight for the AFV Club's M-10....now I need to find someone who has that new Sherman kit from Italeri and doesn't want the wading gear....I have a pic of a Canadian M-10 on the Normandy beach removing the wading gear and would sooooo love to do this in a diorama....anyone have that kit?

Wow Dave...that would be great!!! Let me know if you don't decide to use the wading gear.....I think that Sherman would look best without it any ways LOL
I've been busy looking at the picture I have and the model and drooling at how close I am to being able to build it....and now I see this....must be my night....I'm going to go buy a lottery ticket!!!! #:-)

Until a month or so ago, nothing but Shermans, I have tried to build every U.S.design that was produced, 8 years worth of time........but then again my den looks like a war room.
Now I am working on a DW, Another Sherman 105 fresh from the factory, and a Pershing conversion, but it is in the planning stages.

I build mostly German AFVs, but also build a lot of British WWII AFVs, and WWII Russian stuff. Starting to try more figures, especially modern US forces. And I have always liked doing Modern Soviet personnel carriers.

I return to the hobby in the year 2000 after a looooong stop of about 20 years (I´m 51). I build only WW2 aircrafts (1/48) and armor kits (1/35). In this time I´m building mostly AFV kits. The ones that I like most are German armor kits and all type of Shermans.
I have in stock waiting to reach the shelf 105 kits, so with an avarage of 15 kits per year I have work for some time. I don´t know if the same happens to other moderlers but when I find a kit that I like, it doesn´t matter how many are in my stock, I just buy it. Now I´m have some trouble to get them into the house, you know, my wife has discovered my stock. I think this hobby is driving me mad. #:-)

lol.. I can sympathize with that.. My wife didn't know how many diecasts and model kits I had till we moved recently. Needless to say, she was not real happy with all the boxes that filled my closet..lol
