Good review Rob. This kit looks like one of only two kits that I know of with an accurate M240. And the only other that I know of actually is another of Hobby Fans! And its good to finally see a Marine digital uniform figure out there. That must mean that there is one coming soon for the ACUs?! Please? lol

Yup, Dragon. It's in there Modern US MArine set, but Hobby Fan is way better. You can get in there Modern Accessory set also.

The 240 in the Dragon kit for the Modern Marines is actually just half of a sprue from their Modern Machine Guns kit - which is really great because it gives you 8 MGs of various kinds from an Israeli Negev LMG to a PKM to this M240.
The "M240" provided in the DML kit is labelled the L7 GPMG. The L7 is a British derivitive of the FN MAG, which is also what the M240 is derived from. However the M240B in the US Army and the M240(C?) are somewhat different from the FN MAG and different from each other. The one in this Hobby Fan kit looks more like one you would find in the USMC with that front handguard. The one in the Dragon Modern Marines kit is closer to an M240B, but is missing the Picatinny (sp: I can never spell it correctly) Rail system on the top of the receiver. Also newer M240B have a hand guard like that seen in this Hobby Fan kit but is a little smaller and is similar to that on a new M249 (it has those little holes in it). Sorry if I've confused you.

Yer im an idiot Jeff-it is an FN Mag. The FN Mag is just the actual Belgium army Term for the gun (aswell as IDF) I just did a bit of reading on it and as you say the gun in the Dragon kit is more like first production M240's. Thanks for the info Jeff, im still learning!!!!!

Nice review Rob. Dragon also did an FN MAG in their 3001 kit 'Israeli Paratroopers'.

Good review, Rob!
I really like this set, mate...What are your plans for these figgies? I would be really interested to see some finished shots...

Hi Rob,
A really nice review and I would agree fully the figures are really very good and come to life nicely when painted, I did set 1 & 2 although to break things up I did do one pair in the 3 tone cammo. I was very pleased with the result as was the customer. As to your comment about the ammo belt, no it came off after gentle scoring with a fresh scalpel blade. I did find that the weapons were still difficult to place even with the pistol grips removed and despite the fact that the arms were keyed to get them in the right location. A little judicious fiddling and trimming was necessary.
