Well, first off, I must say that I am flattered that one of my photos from OIF my have inspired you.
I do have some additional photos of this vehicle. You will have to bear with me for a few days. It will take me a bit to dig for them while being a supply sergeant, father and husband. It is a tough balancing act some days.
I have pictures of the CITV, the loaders station, the front slope and I may have a few other shots.
I will say, all of the M1's that you see under my name at PrimePortal are all M1A2's and other than the mine clearing systems on them, they were identical. Take note though that they are using modified standard M240B infantry machine guns on the loader station instead of the usual M240. The armor dedicated M240 does not have the heat shield, carry handle, bi-pod of flash hider that you see in my photos.
The M1A2's in my photos were on their way to Balad and were ambushed on Highway 8 just outside of our base camp. They came into our basecamp to do damage assessment and repairs. Some came into our basecamp under their own power and three were towed. Normally we didn't have any heavy armor around. Little did we know that these M1's would be instrumental in repelling a Saddam Fedayeen ground assault a few days later.
There was an M88A2 Hercules that was with these tanks also and photos of it are on prime portal also. That is a wicked, dinosaur looking beast!

I have no pictures of the above vehicle, but additional M1 Abrams and all the various versions can be found at this site. There are over 15 pages of photos dedicated to the Abrams alone, plus just about every major US weapon system used in the last 40 years.

Brent, thank you for the reply and any further pictures you have would be gratefully recieved. Cannot promise i will do justice to the M1A2, but i will try my best. Send them when you have the time mate, balancing a family and service commitments must not leave you with much time to do anything else. Much appreiciated
Ryan, thanks for the link. I have had a look there but could not find the particular vehicle that i want to recreate.

Don't worry about doing it justice. The important thing is to have fun!

Oh it is always fun, right up until the moment it goes wrong, then it is just sheer frustration.

I was inspired as well..to build two M1A2 SEPs after seeng those pics..
The photos below is as much as I've done..Since then I've been too busy working on my AM kits..
I haven't started on the VCSU...have to rework the Mine Roller Adapter on the Trumpeter kit...and scratch the Centreline Deflector for the Mine Plow going on Tamiya's kit.. also haven't done the handgrip for one of the M240s...nor finished up on the Stowage boxes' handles (at the BRE)
Hey Brent could you email me those other additional photos of these tanks?
..any chance you have a top-close up of the Stowage box at the BRE..?
Please send to [email protected] THANKS!
Still wondering how to paint the Panther's face...
