At the hobby store this weekend, I saw a book titled "Realistic Animation, Lighting & Sound : 21 Projects for Your Model Railroad" by Kent J. Johnson (Kalmbach Publishing Company; ISBN: 0890243387). It looked like it had a lot of crossover potential for modelers of all genres. The nice thing about lighting a diorama is that you get more control over its appearance.
There was a technique for simulating fire using a discarded radio that was particularly interesting.

Hmmmmm,
i've always been tempted to use lighting ever since seeing a "bob Letterman superdiorama".In it he had a frnch civilian smoking a pipe and the pipe lit up!!!!!!!!!!!

MINITRONICS!!! Thats the stuff I like to use. You should be able to find it wheere ever trian supplies are sold. I believe there is a web sight for them to.
