Hi,

I have seen a few posts in the forum about Heller or Revell paint and people having problems with the paint drying.

The Humbrol / Revell paints are very thick and should be thinned before you even attempt to brush paint. I use two differnt thinner types for thinning the paint. These are mineral spirits and laquer thinner. To thin I use medicine dropper bottles (you can get them at the drug store). These are great for mesuring how much thinner I add to the paint. This is important as the Laquer thinner is "hot" and if you use too much it will "lift" any previous coats of paint applied.

When I open a new bottle of paint I use a straw (like a pippet) to remove
about 1/5 of the paint then I add two drops of laquer thinner and about 10 of the mineral spirits. This will thin the paint well and it works good for me with brush painting.

To thin for air brushing I usually use a straw as a pippet and fill the brush cup 1/3 full and add mineral sprits from the dropper bottle till it has thinned to a milk like consistency. This usually works well for me.

For dried (in the bottle) paint I usually begin with two drops laquer thinner and a few drops mineral spirits and mix for a few minets if the paint is not loosining (still clumpy) I will add another drop of the laquer thinner.
The trick is to use as little laquer thinner as necessary.

Hope you guys find this usefull...

Gray
