Hello everyone:
This is a question that I have in my mind for some time. How many time an average++ modeller spend in a kit.
I work a couple of hours every day after dinner and to finish a kit laike the Tamiya Tiger I(posted in the home page) I use three and a half weeks, more or less 50 hours.
Is this too much ?

there is no too much in modeling. I spend anywhere from 30 to 100 hours on a kit (this is a rough estimate since I never counted) and this gets spread out over a month or two or three or.... you know...

I don't really keep track of the time I spend on a kit as i work a few hours here and there and sometimes go a few days between working on something and other times I'll work 8 hour or so in a day.. it takes me on average 2 to 3 months on a kit depending on what i want to do.

It all depends if I have time or the mood to model, It can happen that I don't model for weeks so that effect the time also.
But my last 2 project where about 2 months (Sherman tank) and 5 months (Willy's dio).
I started my latest dio about 2-3 months ago but did not do much until now.
I am currently redesignin my hobby room.

It usually takes me 2 -3 months to finish a kit. Sometimes it even takes longer. I started a diorama in September of last year and it is still sitting on my shelf half finished. With me the length of time it takes me to finish a project has a lot to do with inspiration. Some days it is there and others it is not. If I lose interest in a model I am in the process of building, I will put it aside for a while and start something else and then after some time go back and hopefully finish it.

For me,a lot depends on the manufacturer, and the type of model.I find aircraft take longer than armor.German or American WWII tanks, built OOB are the fastest for me.An open SPG will take longer, more sub assemblies to complete, then paint, then assemble.
So at 3 hours a night,and 4hrs/day/weekends,I could finish a Tamiya or DML turreted tank in about 2 weeks.Open topped,2 1/2 weeks.small aircraft,3 weeks.
But,the Revell USS Constitution,with sails,2 months.
The Tamiya 1/16th M-4A3E8(105) took 3 months.
BUT IT ALL IS FUN!

It usually takes me about a month to finish one, but than again I am a multity tasker and I end up doing about three or four modals at once. It is really your speed that you can go. I take longer because I do modaling and watch movies and listen to the radio, so really your speed is your speed.

For OOB, I can squeeze out a model in about 1-2 weeks of 1or 2 hours per night, depending on work and family commitments. For heavily detailed stuff, it takes me 1-2 months of that.

That is not too much.
I spent three months on my last kit, although I did super detail it with PE and Resin interior.
Take as long as you need to get it right,
Andrew

I don't consider myself a pro by no means, but I normally build an Armor model in a few weeks, working on it a few hours a night. But, in saying that, I have many I don't have fully done because I am waiting to develop my skills better to do the camo.
