Amigos!

I have some real crappy brushes, realizing this after a year or so of using them I just felt the urge to snap one...or two in half...and drive the bristles into my desk like it was a corkscrew. They are made by Royal, and cost around $2 each. That should have been my first warning. They seem to be made from synthetic material, and don’t hold on to paint too much. The ends split most often and easily.

Anyways, I was looking for some recommendations on better brushes, as I don't really know what to look for. I've been shopping around, but haven't found anything much better. My main purpose would be for figures, if that matters at all.

If you are prepared to spend some money I would definitly say Winsor&Newton Serie 7 Miniature. Did not get mine more than some months ago but they are the best brushes I have used so far, they put the paint exactly were I want it!

In the slighter cheaper brands I can recommend a German company named Lukas, whom I used paintbrushes from before. I have also heard good stuff about Tamiyas brushes, but have never tried them myself.

Hope some of this helps you!

Thanks guys, I hope I get them soon. It's been driving me nuts seeing my stuff sit here and not being able to paint.

Just because it's sable doesn't mean that it's any good. Take Games Workshop brushes for example, they are sable but, as someone wisely expressed it, "they are good for putting the paint from the bottle to the pallet".

I agree with Windsor but there are also a few other artist brands which are great also. I dont know if you have Michels or A C Moore in your neighboor hood but they both have 40 % off coupons released on wenesday and sunday newspapers. This is a great way to stcock up on brushes especially when they are expensive ones. If youve never gone there check them out.
