Hi all, I was wondering if anyone has any reference pics of the 3-tone NATO camo scheme on the rear of the Abrams hull, specifically the area under the turret? Neither the directions nor the box art give any references for this area, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, what is the best Testors equivalent to the bright green color of the smoke grenades used in the Abrams in OIF? Would pale green work? Also, on the AT4 rocket, is there any red on it, and if so, where? One more thing; during the invasion phase of OIF, was it more common for Marine Abrams crews to leave the lid on the .50 cal boxes that were being used on that gun, or did they remove the lid completely, like the ammo box in the Tamiya kit depicts? I look forward to hearing from you all, and wish you well.
PS, HeavyArty, do you still have any pics of your 'Angry American' M1A1HC posted anywhere? I can't find them here on Armorama, and really enjoyed looking at them.

Just a quick question for clarity.
Are you talking about under the turret, or on the back deck under the turret?
If they underside of the turret, it's the green base color with no camouflage.
Back deck is a different story, although when painted, most tanks are painted with their gun tube in travel lock over the rear.

The back deck is what I need help on. That and the smoke grenades.

Is anyone going to answer my question about the camo pattern on the back deck of the Abrams hull?

I believe that the pattern on top of the deck is a copy of the pattern on top of the turret. If you look at the patern (according to the US Army technical bulettin TB 43-0209) you can see that lines on the turet top are continuation of lines on the hull, so it is easy to copy the pattern from the turret to the deck.

Chris,
Yes Pale Green will work for the smoke grenades.
And yes, there is some red in the AT-4:
The trigger is red.
