Heya, Folks,

Does anyone have any references showing where the non-skid material is located on the hull of the LAV-25...?

Thanks!

Regards and Aloha,

As far as I know, it does not have non-skid... But I could be wrong.

They original LAV 25s might not have had non-slip coatings applied but I think that they were added later on. The newer LAV 25 SLEP for sure have the non-slip coating applied to the hull and turret.

I wish I could help you out with the layout for the non-skid coating.

I remember seeing a post a while back. Have you searched the site for LAV-25 info?

I was in the 4th LAV Bn when we unwrapped the LAVs when they came from the factory (still had that "new tank smell" ). They had paint that had some kind of particulate mixed into it, at least on the top deck, and fron glacis. The engine cover gratings did not have it. The top of the winch door did, and the top of the turret. I'm pretty sure that the sides and back of the hull, both sides of the back doors, and both sides of the trim vane(not sure if you're modelling that up or down) have smooth paint. The inside of all doors(and most of the interior) has smooth light green paint(kind of a sea foam green).

I just finished moving, and I found my LAV pictures last night. When I get back from school this afternoon, I'll break them out and see if I can get you a definative answer on the non-skid.

Note: My pics only run up thru 1993/94, so if you are doing an OIF LAV, it might have changed. If you're doing ODS, they'll be fine.

Thanks a bunch, guys! The responses and info are much appreciated!

Funny, of all the pictures that I have seen of LAVs, recent or not, I can't tell if there is any non-skid material on the hull... I would assume, Clark, that it would be continued into the current day given the practical nature of this "modification"...

Clark, can you tell me how far the .30 cal coax sticks out from it's firing aperture...?

Thanks again, guys!

Aloha,

Johnny B.
