projectguitar.com has a feature that I think everybody on this site would like to have. Every time you get a PM, you get an email. Is this possible???

Hi Luke,
I can see your thinking here and it would be useful providing the emails were identified as coming from the Big A.
Personally if I don't recognise an email address it gets deleted without even being opened. I learnt my lesson about 3 years ago when I open an email by mistake and the computer got a virus attack and I ended up having to trash 5 years work.
However, it might also mean an increase in spam mail as well.
Cheers

To be honest, I don't really feel the need for an 'e-mail' notification. Whenever you log in to Armorama, it will be prominently displayed at the top of the screen, both as a 'you have one private message' next to your name, and with the flashing envelope.
As Alan points out, unless it's clearly named as an Armorama email, It gets deleted unopened on this side as well... My rather ruthless way of dealing with emails means that I receive on average only one spam email per day. Only time my computer got infected was thanks to a family member using one of those wonderfull file sharing dohickies...
Cheers

What Luke is suggesting is nothing new to sites like those part of the Kitmaker Network. Most forum based sites that I subscribe to have an email notification system for PM's, and personally I think it a good suggestion.
I find it especially useful for those sites that I seldom visit. What's particularly nice is the fact that this feature is normally an optional switch. I.e. if I don't want the notifications via email, I simply check or uncheck the box (depending on the site's default settings), and voila!
Would I use something like this? Probably not, but then I'm on the K.Network for 8-14 hours a day...
