Most plastic models can build up nicely straight out of the box. None more so than kits produced with the benefit of improved manufacturing proceses in the last few years. But still, modellers will look for more... more detail, more accuracy... This has traditionaly been the area of the aftermarket manufacturers, but lately the major pastic model producers have started adding the ''missing links'' as standard in the box. This review takes a look at Eduard''s ''BIG ED'' sets which pack ''everything you need for your great model'' in one package. So does it?

Well, the rear grilles are wrong... the border of Eduard's grille takes a detour around the hook...the real grille had a simple rectangular border.
The support arm for Eduard's loader hatch has a straight section..the real one was a gentle curve.
Eduard provide vertical periscopes for the commander... the real ones were slanted. A head pad for the cupola would have been a nice touch, it would be more vislble from outside than these periscopes.
Just sayin'.

I think the main thing for most modellers building this kit will be to add the missing periscopes to the cupola, without being to worried about the slant of the periscopes... I must admit that I did not know about the slant of the periscopes, thanks for enlightening me.

Again, thanks for the correction. I knew there had to be a support arm, which the plastic manufacturers seem to forget, but I did not know the exact shape...
One day, we will have a perfect model of every German tank...
Cheers
Henk

The correct shape for the arm has been displayed here for quite some time:

Speaking of plastic, you'll find a correct arm in Dragon kits 6253 and 6286. Don't know about anyone else.
