I was at my LHS over the weekend and picked up some old catalogs and saw in the Academy 2002-2003 catalog that they were supposed to be issuing a M-728 CEV "Vietnam". Did they ever release this?

Sort of. They released the M60A1 with M9 Dozer Blade in its place.

Right now, there is only one way to get an M728...buy the AEF conversion kit and use it as a guide to scratchbuild an M7278.

Hi guys
Here's some pics of the model of a friend of mine. It' s a scratchbuilt conversion based on the Esci kit, the Verlinden M9 blade and the plans from March 1995 FSM issue. He says it isn't a difficult job, it just requires a long time.

There was a very good conversion from MK on the market some years ago. The Azimut kit looks very similar judging the pic on there site.

I used the AEF conversion several years ago as a basis for my M728. I used the Academy kit with the dozer blade as the basis for the kit. The AEF set was good for the turret casting and the boom, but the instructions (???) left a lot to the imagination. It was handy to have a set of references available. I happened to be at Ft Leonard Wood in Missouri for Annual Training and took many photos of the M728 on outside display there. Those helped a lot. The completed model looks good, and represents a niche model that will probably never see full plastic production.
