I am looking to build an M1 Abrams kit. It doesnt need to be anything fancy, just a nice relaxing build. I came across this kit on greatmodels.com for $14.95.
1/35 DML3517 M1A1-HA Abrams w/ Tank Crew
Is this kit worth buying or should I pay the few extra bucks and go with the Tamyia OIF abrams.
Thanks in advance.

I say go 4 it...
In my opinion the DML Abrams are just a scootchie bit better than the tamiya kits, detail wise.
But thats just my 2 cents.

If you wanted to wait a couple of weeks the new Dragon Abrams has just been released and should be in your LHS by the end of the month. It is much improved over the old one, which can be something of a pain in the derrier if you take my meaning.

Thanks for the advice, but I was just worried that the DML kit would not have much of anything if it was priced that low.

DML's Abrams are great. They are a little harder to build than the Tamiya one, but have features that Tamiya left off. I prefer the DML kits myself.

Besides having partial turret interior, the figures have vignette written all over them. Grab some .030 rod while your there. The main issue is the sprue attachment points on the turret racks. And its easier to just replace some of them. But like others have said, the new AIM kit is a full on 3rd ID invasion tank in one box if you have the cash.

just few of my opinions
regarding old DML M1's, they thave the usual fit issues, but the worst part, if not the most useless parts are the turret racks. I agree thats it's easier to replace them with wires.
Hey, why not consider trump kit abrams? they're relatively cheap, nice details. but the main issue is the turret shape. but this could easily be solved by adding styrene.

Thanks alot for the advice, it is good to know about the rack issue on the DML abrams before purchasing.

The DML M1A2 was one of the first (if not the very first) DML kit I built. I thought it was a finicky build. The bustle rack was tricky and this was one of my first individual link kits. My tracks sort of meandered, but overall, I thought it was a very good model.
The entire original DML M1A1/A2 series is still well worth $15.
