Greetings all,
I'm in the process of making some 4" smoke launchers for the side of my Mk V Sherman, thanks to information provided by Ian (aka monkeygun).
I'm looking for reference pictures of the brackets that fixed the tubes to the side of the turret.
anyone know if the tubes were fixed or could be tilted???
Any links that might help would be much appreciated.
Cheers

AFAIK they were fixed. I emailed you what shots I have of them. Someone (Dana Nield maybe?) makes them in resin but they're discontinued.

Pat, Rob, Jim,
Many thanks for the feed back guys, much appreciated. I have the tubes and firing stuff sorted, and some concave clamps fashioned to hold the tubes.
It's the back plate and angles to fix them at and the spacing between the tubs if any, I need clear sight of.
Brilliant folks Thanks again

Check out this site about halfway down. Good pictiures of the mounts without the launchers: http://www.1jma.dk/Pics/Jeffrotanks1.htm

Early vehicles had Lee-Enfield breeches firing blank .303 cartridge not electrical detonaters Accurate Armour do nice ones in British M4 update set

Greetings all,
Here's a very poor picture showing location and angle - any comments?
The pics Pat sent me show the bracket as being welded directly to the turret without a backing plate as on the Matilda.
Pat W - I have fitted the .303 for the firing mechanism and just need to add the wiring and the small box below the launchers. Re the AA M4 update set is this a new addition? I have a fairly recent one and there is nothing like that in the bag?
The photos also show the butt end of the rifle without a plate although I believe one may have been added and the wiring feed through to the trigger as per Ians Matilda.
Any comments or additional information is most welcome.
Cheers

Hmmm, they look a bit high to me Alan, the end of the tube shouldn't clear the top of the turret.
Compare to the placing on this shot of "Akilla"

Edit and Update:
Well guys it's back to the drawing board on this one, it would appear the the initial measurements regarding the tube width were incorrect.
Never mind, the post turned up a lot of useful information.
Thanks to all who responded.
