Its been a long time since I've posted anything here, manly do to lack of time. Some of you in the Aircraft commuinty my now me As Vince Maddux of VMDecals, a small but growing decal line. For the last couple of years I have been doing manly modren aircraft subjects, but I do have a love for armor too.
I wanted to know if there are any decals you feel I could make for armor, Just so I don't do anything tha has been done be for.
One idea I had is for Figures. What would you think of decals for BDUs,ACUs, and uniforms in genral. What I am pictureing is a set of decals to "dress" the figure in. I know that painting camo on figures can be hard so maybe decals might work better.
Let me know some of you ideas
thanks
Vince

Gday Vince
What sort of era are you aiming at with the armour?
Interesting concept re the camo for figures... I wonder how it would transfer? Could be good if made of a material that suitably replicates a poncho for example...
Cheers

Brad,

I'm thinking of decals Moderen Armour, But I'm open to ideas for any era.

The working Idea for the camo is a screen printed decal like most decals.
But with a twist. For instance, A set of BDUs woupld be laided out as if it was just cut from the patteren, front and back for the pants and the same for the top. Plus decals for the sleves. Basicly you'll warp your figure with the decals, apply sovlent to get it into the creases molded into the figure and once dry, do your reguler shadows and highlites. I can also include seperete name tapes and rank insignas on the sheet. I could do the hard to paint uniforms like woodland camo , desert camo, the new digi camo, and I'm sure there could be dozens of other uniforms I can do.

As fo the poncho idea, I don't thing the decals would be able to stand up alone without some kind of backing.
If there is any intrest or ideas, let me know and I'll get to work on the ASAP.
thanks
Vince
