Just wanted to know which plastic 1:35 Hummer is the best bet? Thought I'd get one after watching Black Hawk Down! Thanks in advance!

I would recommend Tamiyas M1025 armament carrier or their M1046 TOW missile carrier. I have built a couple of them and I think they are great kits right out of the box.

Tamiya ones hands down! However, if you want a cheaper one depicting the Humvee in the early 90's, Academy is an OK choice.

I agree with Torbjorn. The Tamiya one is by far the best. I have built Academy's hummers, but once you have built a Tamiya one, you see the differances, and your very dissatisfied with the details. Also, there are lots of accessories for the Tamiya kit so you can model it however you like. MIG productions makes an M998 conversion, an M1114 conversion, newer tires. Eduard makes a photo etch set for the Tamiya kit. Verlinden makes a stowage set for the Tamiya. Pro Art makes a Dumvee kit and SINCGARS radios, as well as the Helmet Hard Top Version. Calibre 35 makes an open cab conversion and a very nice M998 troop carrier conversion. There is so much its just unbelievable. If you want to model one of the Humvees from Black Hawk Down, the ones I recall seeing were the M1025's with .50 cals on them. Get the Tamiya kit, You'll like it so much, you'll buy another one!

Don´t forget Blast models. They make a stowage set, a set with armoured doors and a set with a new gunturret.

There are also several non-standard versions out there. Italerie makes one mislabeled commando which is an interesting one you can go open air and one with an Avenger missle system on it Academy makes an interesting cargo version and Tamiya had one that had the proposed 20mm bushmaster on it.

I'd say the Tamiya Humvee is the best one to go for (either the M1025 or the M1046). I've got both the Academy and Tamiya M1025 kits on my shelf now, and just a quick comparison of the parts reveals that the Tamiya one is much nicer and more detailed. All of the online reviews also give it a thumbs up for ease of construction.
