Hi All,
Would I be right in assuming the colour on the inside of the rocket launcher assembly, steps 16,17 and 18 in the instructions (parts F1 and F2; F4 and F6 etc), should be painted Nato green? I know there's some detail painting as well, I'm just thinking of a base colour.
I'm going to (eventually) paint it as a vehicle from the OIF era in Iraq.
slightly but I'd not suppose the crews would strap much (if any) gear to the outsides due to the rocket exhaust gases
TIA
Tom

Inside the bays can be either NATO green or Sand. It depends on what the original color it was painted from the factory. If it came from teh factory in NATO camo, it would be green. If it came from the factory Sand, inside the bays would be sand as well. Either is correct.
The gear is usually stowed on to and to teh rear of te LLM (Launcher box). In OIF, we in 1-39 FA (MLRS), 3 ID had big wooden boxes made that were strapped on top of teh LLM to hold crew gear, MREs, and water boxes.
You can see how the gear is attached below.

Thank's again Gino,
I think I guessed as I was posting you'd be replying :-)
I'll probably do the green interior for a bit of a contrast. And thanks for the info on the storage. The vehicle in the background seems to have the stuff wrapped in a tarp so I'll sort something out .
A big thumbs up.
Tom
EDIT: In your second pic what are the green posts by the drivers' crew doors?

They are most likely survey stakes. The stake is surveyed-in by a survey crew, giving a 10-digit grid and elevation data to that exact point on the ground. The data is used during initialization procedures for the launcher's fire control system.
Or, they could just be stakes to mark the parking spots for each vehicle.

They do look like witness posts, but they usually have several of them surrounding a monument though, and they'd be orange or yellow just something that clearly stands out to keep the tread heads from running them over.........Not like it always works though.
When I was an 82C, all we would use was a .50 casing for a hub, and a 4ft stake with a tag, flagging, and chemlight on it.
How do you like it here in 'Bama?
