All are crack in a circular manner and the model was even not expose on direct sunlight. i finished this model like 6 months ago.

So fast to get destroy, Is that normal

Next step i need to buy an AM tires

Cheers

Hi Sebastian,

Hmmm... that's highly unlikely... espcially built six monthes ago. I have kits that is over 15 years old and they are fine. Did you paint the wheel or use some kind of glue or solvent on the rubber?

Benjamin
No no just nothing pastel chalks only
but the most important point is that the model was standing in the corridor mostly in dark during the day

This happens to someone else ??

Cheers

You're not alone. I too had this happen to my HMMWV in about the same length of time. My next one is going to have AM tires on it.

Hmmm... I have Tamiya's 88 Flak, 8 ton half track, italeri's Horch... they are all over the age of 15~20 years. I just checked again and they are fine. Jeff said he's got the same problem... is it just the Humvee?

I also build Tamiya's motorcycle and racecars. Some of them are over the age of 10 years. No crack on the tires either. This is the first time I heard people having this kind of problem.

The older Tamiya vinyl tracks and tires seem very stable (I've got some 35 years old that are just fine). The new glueable vinyl-styrene blend introduced about ten years ago has been troublesome. It is fragile and splits easily if bent or folded, and enamel thinners cause it to dry out and crumble. If you used enamel paints or a mineral spirits wash anywhere on the model, that could be the problem.

The stated cause sounds very plausable. This topic has surfaced on Armorama before and I have had three models with jacked up tires- Tamiya Humvee, Academy Humvee, and Trumpeter truck- whose name I cannot remember.
