After ten years of being away from the hobby, here's my first finished model. I built Tamiya's M151A2 MUTT OOB, painted it from a spray can, and weathered it with an artists' oil paint wash and light drybrushing. I skipped most of the decals, as they were for the camouflaged paint scheme, and I decided to go for the early 70s OD paint job (I'm not yet ready to tackle a complex camo scheme, especially not without an airbrush!).

The driver figure gave me the most trouble. It was not only my first figure in ten years, but also the first figure where I tried filling in shadows with darker shades. I ended up painting the figure twice before I got a passable result. The face gave a lot of trouble, and I'm not very satisfied with it.

Let me know what you think.

Nice clean build Lucas. I like the paint job on the fig. The uniform looks good and the face aint too bad.

Keep it up

That's a fine effort Lucas, a solid build (no seam lines, very good) and you are better with a rattle can than me... I could show my first (and only.. ) attempt to use those on a Scania truck, but the evidence is hidding somewhere deep in the pile of 'must get back to this one day'.. :-) .
The face looks good, the uniform perhaps a bit 'pea greenish' but that may be the lighting.

Good job.

Cheers

Nice job Lucas. I know what you mean about figures. They always give me the most trouble, especially the face. From what I can see, your's looks fine. Nice shadowing on the uniform too.

Thanks for the comments and encouragement! I definitely need to keep working on painting faces. The lighting in the photographs is a bit off, but the uniform is a little bit too light-colored (I used MM Acryl OD as the base coat, and I was surpised at how light it was compared to other OD paints, particularly Tamiya). Next model up is an old Academy M1025, which I'll paint in Desert Storm sand.
