Hello
I would like to ask if anyone can point me to a manufacturer / distributor who produces civilian vehicles in 1/35 or 1/32 scale, cc 1920 - 1945. These would be ideal for dioramas to include vehicles commandeered by the military, wrecked in streets or used as staff cars etc. They seem rather difficult to find.
Any help would be great!
Cheers
Garth

Both Airfix aswell as Matchbox had a 1/ 32 range of vehicles at one time.
These included a Citroen traction avant, an Aston Martin Ulster, a Jaguar SS, an Alfa Romeo and a Bentley blower.
Good luck hunting them down.

MIG make a wrecked civilan car in 1/35.
They also make a Toyota Landcruiser Ute with a 12.7mm on the back of it known as a technical. I don't have the 1st kit but the 2nd is a nice bit of resin and I'm looking forward to building it.

If the price is not a problem, Wespe Models has released several 1/35 resin kits of WW2-era german civilian cars like the Opel Kadett :
The Opel Kapitan :
or the Horch 830 :

We used to be able to cheat and incorporate the 1/32 scale civilian cars produced in styrene by Palmer, Lindberg, and others, but that scale and that era are out of fashion these days. If you hunt a bit, you can find cheap, 1/32 scale die casts that could be acceptable if disassembled and detailed. One source is the "National Motor Museum Mint," which offers a wide range of early 20th Century vehicles, mostly American makes--of course, Fords were built in European factories, and other US makes were sometimes imported before the war. Go to http://www.motormint.com
I believe Azimut did a 1/35th German Mercedes staff car not too long ago in resin. Many years ago, Fujimi offered a Mercedes sedan in 1/32nd, boxed as a "Kommandeurwagen." Actually based on Mercedes taxis used before the war, it was still reasonable for military use, since the Wehrmacht impressed any automobiles it could get. Haven't seen the kit since 1979, though.

Thanks Frenchy for the link. I've contact the seller.
Garth, Motormint is awesome too! I guess I can just "fake" the car an use it as captured German utility vehicles.

Hello Benjamin and Frenchy
Can you believe this...Motormint don't ship to South Africa (or international) for that matter! How strange! Well, that means my mates in Washington DC will be forwarding said vehicles in the post!
Is this a common trend amongst firms not to ship to our primitive shores? Maybe its our unreliable and generally corrupt postal system?
Thanks again for all the help with Civ vehicles.
Regards
