Gday all
Just a quick post to show how close to final ODrabbing of my M4...

My dilemma is thus...
This is to be a participant in the 'Purple Hearts' campaign, but am still unsure as to what method of 'incapacitation' I should use... Have considered a shell hole through the hull-side, but not resulting in a fire and the crew out and tending to wounds (and counting their blessings!)...
Considered a thrown track, a destroyed bogey assembly from a mine, and also a bogging... Any thoughts? Have changed my mind soooo many times...

Thats the beauty of this campaign isnt it? So many possibilities on what to do with your kit.

Before inflicting damage on your kit though, i would try venturing the web to view photos of damaged Shermans to get an idea how the kit would end up looking. As you know, its a one way trip so once damage is done, you cant undo it.

A thrown track is the easiest IMHO seeing as they can be easily replaced if you dont like it.

If you want more ideas, try these photos on primeportal.

Hi Brad,

I take it it's an American M4 setting?. Verlinden do some good tank crew figures, a wounded guy being helped out of a tank if I remember correctly and a sleeping figure who could be a wounded guy covered with a blanket, being attended by a medic.

A shell hit would be good, track blow up by a mine probably a bit easier to model. How about setting it at an angle in a ditch or flood drain.

I'd check out their range for possibilities anyway, looking at some figures might help you decide on the final setting. ( A shell hit would be fun to do!!!!)

Cheers

AL

Yep, I know the ones. They are well modelled IMO, but I have a couple of others to use, which being Alpine are a truer 1/35th scale than the VP ones, only that there will need to be some serious alteration...

I think that a slight angle will be a good idea... Also, modelling some sort of water 'traverses my turret' so to speak...:-)
Another search underway!

The crew of a Sherman tank of the Westminster Dragoons (2nd County of London Yeomanry) repairing damage to one of its suspension units caused by an 88mm anti-tank shell, 7 June 1944.

I'm sure you could adapt this to an US Sherman, All the photos I've seen of KO'd Shermans with hits in the upper hull show them as having burned.

Thanks for the tints and hips!
Al~ The medic set looks cool also... And no worries about the help...
Pat~ I have this photo, and was definitely an inspiration for a bogey hit... As for upper hull hits, I can't dig up the pics at the moment, but I'm quite sure there have been shell hits which have caused concussion damage, and others which have passed straight through... A happy medium would be a hit to the bogey housing though, methinks
Thanks again
