Hi Guys,

I have a Heller 1/36 AMX 30 w/ 105mm cannon. Basically. the kit have good and crisp details, though there are some fit problems. I also like the clear parts.

Anyway, I just want to ask you guys if you have reference pictures especially the ones used in ODS.

Thanks in advance

Try a google Image search

remember the old adage - 'Some things man isn't supposed to know - for everything else there is Google'

You should find some reference stuff on Chars-francais website :
AMX30B2
and on Olivier "Bison126" Carneau's website :
AMX30B2-

Azimut Productions has released a conversion set that includes the parts needed for a AMX30B2 as used during Operation Daguet (French designation for ODS) :

Olivier has built a nice Daguet AMX30B2 using this set :

The two waterproofing panels stowed on the glacis plate are molded in place and look terrible, as do the molded-on storage lockers on the side panniers. They need to be remade from styrene stock.
Eduard has a photoetch set that will greatly improve the basic kit, particularly the engine deck grills. The central circular grill comes with the early transverse grill slats.
The Azimut kit has resin and brass parts to update the tank to 1991 AMX-30B2 configuration, including the later, bullseye pattern circular grill (though you still have to make those parts I mentioned above--they are not included in the Azimut kit--and many of the Eduard parts are still needed). My Azimut kit had a poorly molded turret stowage box--the mold had been squeezed too tightly, and the top and bottom of the resin part were bowed inward. Gotta break out the Milliputt...

Great AMX you got there

I'm just wondering if the exhaust manifold really are somewhat aluminum color?

I've got the kit, but was more interested in doing it late 70's style, which was what I experienced when we drilled with a French tank battalion in west West Germany near Srassbourg one summer. Anyoe know what color to paint her? This is before the Nato color scheme was operational.

Hi,
our vehicles were painted plain green. In the late 70's the AMX30 was quite new so no sun fading for the paint, my bet would be NATO green in Tamiya range.

Hello,

This happens to be one of my favorite vehicles and I have modeled several. There is an internet company out of Spain that has been most helpful to me in locating hard to find after market parts for the AMX-30.

I posted the whole address on the Missing Lynx modern discussion group page recently, but, I do not have it handy at this time. The company goes by the name of 7th Tank and a gentleman named Carlos is the point of contact.

He found the Phebus Brennus conversion for me and his service has been second to none. I hope you find this helpful.

The color appears to be a kind of greyish aluminum color, like galvanized steel fence material. Maybe mix a little flat aluminum with some flat white or light gray.
