Progress... Every HEMTT nowadays, at least everyone I have seen, has a locker suspended from the chassis under the winch. I did not feel like scratchbuilding this, so I depicted a missing one by showing the "revealed" green paint that would have been under the mounting brackets (two green stripes either side of the winch). I also removed the fantasy steering rods (not shown here) and used one in it's proper place on the driver's side of the chassis between both wheels.
Much of the decaling is done, but there is still some to be done on the pump module and 2500 gal tank.
Any constructive criticism welcome.
Bob

I really like it!
What exactly did you do on the steering modifications? Did you remove the tie rods?

Yes, I removed the tie rods. It does not belong. Not much about the chassis is correct. Lots can be corrected, but I don't want to do a complete rebuild.

EDITED COMMENTS:...(I'm once again reminded to make better use of my wordings in the forums...and try try try to keep my personal comments aside...so here goes again...)
Well on the whole, it looks like it's been maintained rather well. The ones i've seen on a train being transported across the country were in less than good shape. Like , for instance, the doors on the rear where the pump controls are kept were coming off at the hinges and hanging loose by the side. I guess if your having to check and change the controls all the time, then a field modification makes sense. Some wear and tear and the occasional abuse by soldiers and maintainence personel is something that just happens. Don't forget abou trying some bungee straps to hold things together.
It's been fun watching this come along and it's looking great...
