Gday all
Had a lazy Sunday (Easy Monday!) today, and found some cork sheet being sold at the local hardware which they have never had in stock before... Therefore I thought I'd knock up a small house front whilst listening to my team get beaten by Collingwood
Planned to make a dormer window for my cafe today, but I'm easily sidetracked. (Ooh look, something shiny!)
Hope you like it.
Cheers
Brad

Ignore the dark edges to the window and door frames; it is just pen marking...
The separation between the floors with the rolls will be shown as rendered cement. The 'rolls' in it are tubular dowel and kebab sticks, which are placed in a gouged out 'halfpipe' so they look to be only semicircular from the surface. I have filled the gaps with a texture putty, and am happy with the finish at this stage...
The 1st floor will have 2 windows side by side. There may be an adjoining wall on the right of the building with timber double doors...

Hi Bradley,

Wow, what a material mix. I like it. Some good ideas here, and i always need more ideas.
The look of door is great and i like particulary your knob-keyhole opening thing in brass.
But remember, most, i say most and not all, so your part is good, doors in Europe open with a handle and not a knob.

Cheers
Claude

It's coming along nicely, and that door knob looks great! How will you proceed with the window? Windowglass and so on? I'm in stage I have to think about that soon too.

Thanks for the feedback...
Claude, thanks for the advice on the handle. I'lll look into it...
Andreas, I may cheat and use clear perspex in a complete sheet as there is room behind the panes on the frame for both...
Cheyenne, I reckon a brick finish for the walls... The windows are NorthEastern scale lumber, and the door is sheet styrene with part of an M4A4 for the centre parts;)
Kevin, the doorknob is a piece of sprue (choose a 'stem' that holds a part to the sprue) that is of the the thickness you want behind the knob itself. A lil heat applied to the exposed tip and then pressed onto a hard flat surface, and voila!
Cheers

Hey Claude, could you supply me with any examples of the handles you refer to? I tried a search on them, but didn't go really well...
Cheers for the help

Johnny~ I have progressed by scribing out the stonework... Will hopfully get a pic up tonight or tomorrow, and I want to re-work the window panes...
Scott~ Thanks for the encouragement! I really enjoy scratching varying buildings, and the photo reference supplied on the www are limitless... The differing styles are many and a small dio could turn large reallly quick!

Before I duck out for soccer I thought to get a progress pic of the stonework up...

I have some U shaped beam which I can use for the window panes, which should come up neater than the exisiting...

Hi Brad,
Firstly mate,i didn't know plumbers had such fine hands!
It's come along very nicely mate. From the first shots the little detail of the door knob looks the real deal. Now with the brickwork coming along,it's really starting to get a Normandy feel to it.Your windows are spot on,typical for a small row house/shop.
Will this house be added to the dio you were working on?
Cheers,Shay

Gday Shay
Not sure on that as of yet... Have just roughed the second level which has symmetrical twin windows... The roof will have a dormer window methinks...
Remember that pic you posted on another thread? Was liking the sloped road effect and how the doorways were staggered to remain level... May explore that more... Although I have been sidetracked on my Purple hearts campaign entry, which is another muddy dio with a bogged 'mystery' tank... :-)
Cheers
Brad
