Kind of similar to the other posts so does anybody know how to make waterfalls in a diorama? I have a bag of the E-Z-Water but i dono if that would look really good as a water fall. Or anything else that would work? Also the waterfall is going to have a stream at the end so i'll read the other articles.

thanks,
Mike

Hi Armor 135,

I've used clear resin deareated witha vacumn pump and pressure cooker then poured out on an oiled cookie sheet. The stuff can be tooled before it sets up completely and then peeled up while still pliable and cut to fit the scene this allows for a narrow opening and play out of the water as it fallls. The rest is all baking soda and super glue, use this combo out doors on a windy day, do not breath the fumes!! As well as some cotton and paint. and you have a waterfall limited only be the length of you cookie sheet and working time. Cooler days are better for longer working time.

For smaller drops I have made a cripple Mold, that I could remove from inside the scene and poured the resin and worked it out with wet popsicle sticks until it cured and I could set it down. Removeing the cripple, a mold to be removed after the resin sets up, waxed and put in place within the scene. is easy, just pull out what ever you used to wedge it in place.
That allows you to put something in behind the water, that only the scene's observer is to see. What you put in there, an escaping POW or prisoner, or maybe a runaway slave or maybe the heroine, is up to you .

Hope this gives you an idea.

You can also add thin clear strands of fishing line to the top layer of your "almost cured" water resin. Brush the resin onto the strands, then shape as desired. Come back and ad another thin coat of resin, and you get a nice swirling, ripple effect such as is found in moving steams.

I have a book here from Richard Windrow - Terrain Modelling (Osprey Masterclass) wich describes the building of a waterfall diorama, he used E-Z water for this.
