Just a quick pic of the Sherman II I'm working on. I textured the cast surfaces, applying some of the photoetch from the Voyager set and adding some minor details. I'm going to add more stowage and the ubiquitous bucket hanging from the rear hull. It is going to be a machine from the 4th Armoured Brigade in Normandy.

Looking really good. And I must say, the 4th Armd Bde is an excellent choice of units. They were most certainly in the thickest of "the thick of it!"

If it's a challenge you want,.....

I'll gladly paint one of my built up models,..... just to see you finish one of yours!

Steve your Sherman looks great, any chance of a closer look at the storage/radio box on the back of the turret and how did you make it?

Also, what are you planning on using for markings or are you going to make your own?

Cheers

Steve, I just started the #32505 early production" kit...after I found my glasses!{I'm too used to 1/35, but really, it's like building a 1/35 jeep or so...}
Nice job so far!

Thanks Darren,
Its a scaled down 35th box made from sheet styrene. It's not perfect, but since nobody seems to make an aftermarket one, it will have to do. Maybe by the time I hit the twentieth or so I should be happy.

MR Models are doing a British stowage set which includes three different styles of turret box. It's #MR 4808, the boxes are:

early, curved top (similar to those found on Crusaders)

intermediate, rectangular type with a diagonal break to the lid (similar to the rounded top style)

late, like the one you've scratch built.

Unfortunatly, they only include one of each style but loads of other useful British/Commonwealth gear.

Well, here it is after the black primer and first coat or colour. Two maybe three more to go and then the markings and weathering.

I'm going to have to mix and match for the markings on this one. I'll end up painting some of them.
