Hi everybody,

I'm wondering if anyone would be able to direct me to a source (or brand) of the cheapest possible Challenger kit possible in 1/35. I'm not concerned with the mark or accuracy, I just need something I can build up fast for a silly project we're working on. Thanks guys!

PS how's the Modelcraft Chally by the way?

The only ones I know of are the Tamiya kits of the Challengers, the Mk.1 and the Mk. III, I got both of mine through a seller on Ebay for $9 each.....not sure if Academy or Italeri or Revell Germany put out a Challenger kit....I know Trumpeter has a Challenger II coming out.....not sure when....should be out in stores now, as it was released before the AS-90, and it just came out.

The Modelcraft one is most likely a knock-off of the Tamiya Mk I kit. It's the cheapest and if you're not looking for a contest winner, this would be your best bet. I don't know if Trumpeter did a Challenger in their initial line of knock-off kits, but their Challenger Mk II is still in the advance order stage and probably a new tool kit. I'd imagine the older Tamiya Mk I would be cheaper than their newer Gulf War Mk III.

The trumpeter II should be out very soon, and it will be sold for 23 bucks here in France. The tamiya offering in the shops is more expensive but you may be able to find a cheap one on ebay.

There are very few choices Tamiya do Challenger I (without Gulf armour), & a Challenger I Mk.3 (that includes the Gulf mods). The Trumpeter Challenger II is due out any time now.

There are a couple of Mk.3's on ebay UK right now, going for about the £15.00 mark.
