I've got a confession to make. When I first saw the Dragon 3 in 1 Tiger 1 kits, I wished that we would get a modern armor kit made along those same lines. I wished for extreme accuracy, photo etched pieces, aluminum barrel and Dragon Magic Tracks all over stuffed into a big box.
Now that I have the new AIM kit done to the same great standard, I am hesitant to start building it. Don't get me wrong, I love what they've done, but boy is it a daunting task when I think about building it. Sort of like the old question of how to eat an elephant. . . one bite at a time
Probably why I enjoy popping out a 1/72 scale Dragon or Revell kit. Much easier Elephant to eat.

Good deal. I just hope they got enough in to fill all the pre-orders. Mine is still showing "Searching For" as a status.

Hello - I'm knew to this forum, so thought I'd chime in here.
Mission Models also has them in, received mine on Monday. Everything I've seen posted about this kit is spot on - it's awesome. Only gripe was the bustle rack tree had damaged parts for the turret box side rails in both kits I got - broken and bent, but should be able to fix. One kit had an incomplete plastic injection on the turret tree with several parts not completely formed - that will be harder to fix - going have to get replacement parts for that.
By the way - I tested the fit of the engine bay from the Legends set - fit perfect - going to build that in. This kit was well worth the wait - looking forward to the SEP.

Aaarrrrgggg!!! I guess my pre-order was down the list a ways. It looks like they didn't get enough in the first shipment to fill them all. My status now shows a due in date of 5 SEP. I guess I have to wait another week.

Damn, Mission Models is fast! I wish that people buy the AIM kit in millions so DML can realize the profitable market and crank out the SEP kit soon. Please fellow modelers, buy, buy, buy!
Happy modeling!

I have two on preorder from VLS...I ordered them way back last Fall/winter when the kit was first announced. I just wonder if they will still sell them to me at my discount price of $29 bucks, since the list price of the kit has gone up quite a bit.

I think AIM means Abrams Improvement and Modernization.

Is this kit ready to be built as an OIF vehicle, or does it just need the addition of those Identification panels?

Yes, the kit includes decals (and all the parts needed) for 8 different OIF (2003-2004) Abrams.
