Yes perhaps I'm nuts to want to make rivets in 1/72, but the turret on my tank just looks naked without them. In 1/48 and 1/35 I stretch some sprue, cut little bits and glue them on, but when I tried this in 72 it didn't really work for me.

any alternatives that won't require me to buy stuff? Or should I knock some sense into myself and not worry about rivets at all here?

Hey Man,
Here is something you can try, and something I use often when detail is needed. You can use one or both...Elmer's white school glue or Super Glue. What you do is squirt out the glue on a scrape piece of plastic and using a Q-Tip pick up the glue and add on the kit. What your looking to do is to have a bump of glue, you know what I mean. To get straight lines, well is use low tack tape. Run the the tape along the area of the missing detail. If you don't have low tack tape, well I use masking tape, then I stick a piece of tape on my forearm, the oils from your skin will cut the tape stickyness down, the more you do it the less the tack is.

Once you have your missing rivets added, just go about doing the rest of your kit, painting and weathering. Just don't add to much pressure along the newley rivet area. I also suggest that you pratice on some scrape...this way you'll get a handle on how it'll work and how much is needed. Good luck and hope works well !

In 1/72nd though the smallest drop would be 1' wide rivets....You would never be able to see them at that scale unless they were huge, like the mongo rivets used on the add-on armor on a M4A3E8 or something.

Gday BTD
Have heard that you can use the micro beads in a water purifier/filter, but TTBOMK they are suited for 1/35... Don't know of anything practical that is smaller... JOe's idea holds some merit though
Cheers

If you are desperate, one article from the 1970's featured rivets on a WW1 tank made with individual crystals of table salt placed with a tweezer using white glue. I wouldn't do it personally--that way lies madness...

The fact that some of us read as far as this in this topic probably already implies that we're halfway down that way... :-)
