Has anyone tried to fix the Academy kit's turret ring succesfully? When I compared it to pics in Verlinden's Warmachines on the Mk II, the kit turret seemed to sit too high. I cut away the lower end (in an earlier attempt to correct the kit, many moons ago), but then the turret sat so low it was "trapped" between the two rear hull lifting rings.
See this link to pics of the kit. Notice the gap at the turret ring:

After looking more carefully at the side turret armour below the bolted on armour (just in front of the ball & chain armour), it seems that on the real thing this armour extends further downward than in the kit. So this means that on the kit turret the lower side armour of the turret ring should be extended.

Here's a pic of the real thing, although it's a Mk I. Notive there's no gap at the turret ring (remove xxx):

I'd figure some shimming with plastic card should do the trick.
Any opinions?

Btw, any resin wheels available for this kit? Not too happy with the rubber tires.
Thanks in advance.

I'm not real sure on the turret ring issue. However as far as the wheels go, I have a set of the all steel wheel version if you are interested. I think Isreal retrofitted some of their Mk II's with the all steel wheels. I know some of the later Mk III's went back to them. Anyway, let me know if I can be of any further help.
