Just thought I'd share a bit of the project I'm working on- this one is coming along.....
This shot is the figures and a paper version of the ship section I'm building.

Thoughts and comments always welcome.

Good to see that you have still the time to build.

Are you going to do a part of a hull under this or what will be the base ?

My plan for the base is to leave the deck as is - stop there on the ship itself.
Under that I am going to 'try' to make a resin wave as a pedistal about 2.5" high.
The wave will sit on a treasure chest about 3"x4"x3"

Looks very intresting! Lots of movement with the pirates, that's nice! Were does the cannon come from and what have you made the boat of?

The canon comes from a really small company called DieZacNic inc. So small in fact that it doesn't exist - It's scratch built.

The ship is mostly bass wood a bit of balsa for trim a few resin bits and some jewelry accessories. I am writing a full feature on it so you'll get a blow by blow later.

Looking good. I like the different "types" of wood. Gives it some nice visual texture.

Hi Scott, well this is certainly something a little different in the dio section!Great idea and scene!Secondly, i admire how you mix your skills up,sometimes 1/35,then 1/48 and now pirates, what's next?!I do have a suggestion though, have you thought about placing a barrel of some sorts on the deck..wouldn't be a bad thing to add to the scene in my own opinion.Keep the W.I.P pics rolling shipmate.
Cheers an a yo ho,ho,ho

Its coming along very nicely, Scott. With its nice action poses and the deck trimmings its going to be a beauty. Any chance of slipping in the Jolly Rogers pennant somewhere?

Gday Scott
A refreshing change of scenery...
The deck looks great, and I agree about finishing it to that level... The wave and chest pedestal is a good idea!
Have you thought of making actual metal blades for the cutlass(es)? I'm sure they wouldn't be too difficult, turning an edge on a lathe or similar, and would look a treat, especially a photo with light reflecting off them...
Cheers

Wow Scott that is super. Totally kewl! I like the departure from the standard fair, and the ship wrighting is top notch. How about maybe some fallen lines, sails, deadeyes etc to spice it up even more!
